South Mountain Elementary October 21-25 is Spirit Week! SME Fall Festival- Friday, October 25th. We will set up from 3:30-5:30 PM and at 5:30 PM. Volunteers will meet in the multipurpose for the fall festival kick off. All volunteers can get a free slice of pizza and drink! 😊 • Doors open at 6:00 PM

There are lots of things happening this week! Join us for Family Engagement Day on Wednesday! Schools will have multiple activities for families throughout the day! Thursday is a remote learning day for students, and Friday is Fall Break! #gopintos

October marks National Principals Month! Throughout this month, we invite the entire MESD community to celebrate and express gratitude for our principals' hard work and dedication. MESSAGE FROM THE SME Principal: What days are Remote Learning Days? A focus of our School District’s 3-Year Strategic Plan is to enhance Career and College exposure for all students. This year, our instructional calendar includes three Remote Learning Days focusing on Career and College preparation. These days will allow all students to explore careers, exposure to post-high school possibilities, and the time to investigate skills and jobs. Attendance will be taken during these planned Remote Days and there is an expectation that your student will complete all assigned work, either in packet form or on Schoology.

MESSAGE FROM THE SME Principal: High School Football Events • Our school district has a program where high school football players go to the elementary grades and read to classes. The high school will send 6 football players to the school on the day that corresponds with our elementary night at the football game. • South Mountain Elementary School high school “Football Night” is 9/20/24 this year. They will recognize students, staff and parents in attendance. • Six football players to read to your our students from 9:25-9:45. We look forward to their visit.

Join the Pinto Football Team for flag football! MHS football coaches and players will work with students in Kindergarten - 6th grade on fundamental skills and then play games on teams according to age and ability. Sessions are Thursday nights for the next four weeks from 6:00 pm- 7:00 pm at the MHS Football field. Students will receive a t-shirt at the last session. $15.00 per child
