We are excited to welcome students back to South Mountain Elementary! The first day for 1st-5th grades is August 10. Kindergarten students will join us on August 12. On August 6, please come and meet your student's teacher from 2-3:30. Kindergarten families will receive teacher assignments after kindergarten assessments. You will recieve a call to schedule this from a staff member.
New this year: Student drop-off begins at 7:50 each morning. School starts at 8:00. Students will be marked tardy if they arrive after 8:05.

Did your student lose a jacket or water bottle? Our lost and found is overflowing. Please come on Thursday, Friday, or Monday and look at the items set out in the lobby. Items left after January 12 will be donated.

The Halloween costume parade is Friday. If you would like to view the parade please gather in the multipurpose room at 1pm. Thank you for wearing costumes that are school appropriate. No weapons or gore.
Tuesday, November 4, is election day and there is no school. Please go vote!

Our 10-day student count shows that we now have enough students to open a third kindergarten class. This is wonderful news, as it will allow us to provide smaller class sizes and more individualized attention for your children.
We are currently working to fill this new teaching position and will share updates with you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and support as we work to ensure the very best learning environment for our students.

We had a smoke alarm go off at approximately 7:35 this morning. Food was smoking in a microwave. There was no threat to students or staff. The building has been cleared for learning to commence.
