Join all school sites for Family Engagement Day! On Friday, September 15th, schools will host parent-teacher conferences and showcase student learning, activities, and strategies throughout the day! Watch for information from your school site on specific times and events! All schools will serve students lunch (free) on this day. There will be no transportation.
The Color Run is on Friday the 1st! Don’t forget there are great prizes for the top fundraising students and class! Everyone please wear your clothes that can be color blasted, and get your running shoes ready. The last Friday of every month is MHS Pinto Pride day! If you don't have Pinto Pride colors wear your SME spirit wear.

PTO will be providing a ticket for each individual to receive nachos and a water bottle. This will be provided 5-6PM. PTO will also have SME t-shirts to order. If you have questions about the Color Run or general PTO information they will be happy to answer your questions.
Your kindergarten team is ready and excited to get started! School begins for kindergarten Tuesday. Boo Hoo breakfast will begin right after students are settled and ready to learn.

Wednesday, August 2nd: Meet the teacher and principal 5-7PM. Please join us to meet the teacher anytime between 5-7PM. Families may bring school supplies. The principal will be speaking and welcoming families at 5:30 and again at 6:30 in the multipurpose room.
Friday, August 4th: 1st-5th grade first day of school. Students may be dropped off at 8:00 and the bell for classes will ring at 8:20.
Tuesday, August 8th: First day of kindergarten. Teachers will be reaching out to families before the 8th for student screening. After you drop your kindergarten student off, join us in the library for our Boo Hoo Breakfast hosted by our amazing PTO. .
Week of August 14th: Clubs will begin. There will be more information coming soon.

South Mountain Elementary has been designated as a New Mexico Spotlight School, thanks to the dedication of the amazing team of staff, students, and families. We want to welcome Davina Turner as the new principal at South Mountain Elementary School. Ms. Turner comes to us with 17yrs of experience in education. She is excited to be joining the team in July.

I am sad to say that this will be our final week of the 2022-2023 school year. Every day this week is an early out which means that students will be dismissed at 1:30 pm. Thank you for all you have done in support of South Mountain Elementary School. It has been a pleasure to serve you.
Next week Monday, May 22nd - Friday, May 26th is early out at 1:30 p.m. every day.

Due to predicted rain forecast in Edgewood for Friday, May 19th, SMEs Fun day at Venus Park will be cancelled. We will hold it at the school site. If you plan to volunteer, please check in to the office upon your arrival. Thank you for your support. Have a great day!
